Design of Walk-in Kiosk
Evaluated user’s physical interaction with department store kiosk mockup. Recommended design changes to make it more accommodating to user movements and to give improved accessibility to the kiosk screen.
Contextual Field Testing | Direct Observation
Language Localization
Evaluated the readability of a specialized medical device user interface which had been translated from English into languages of non-Western countries. Native speaking participants were presented screens having language from their respective countries and an assessment was made of their ability to parse, read, and comprehend the presented material.
Usability Testing | Direct Observation
Inventory of Emerging User Interface Methods
Conducted literature search of new human-computer interaction methods being developed in research laboratories. Descriptions of 54 new methods were documented.
Usability Testing of Combination Products
Moderated usability testing sessions for combination medical products and their instructions to determine compliance with safe and effective usage required by the FDA. Participants included physicians, caregivers, and patients.

Usability Testing to Develop Safe and Effective Instructions
Developed effective instructions for cleaning and disinfecting a medical instrument used at home by diabetes patients. Iterative formative usability testing was used to incrementally improve the wording and format, until a summative test was able to show that patients could reliably follow the instructions, including critical steps needed for disinfection. The final version of instructions was suitable for submission to the FDA.

App Screen Format Localization
Researched usability firms in Arabic countries and engaged a suitable one to evaluate mobile app screens for usability and compliance with Arabic format and language conventions. Tested screens had been converted from English left-to-right format into Arabic right-to-left format.
Compliant Usability Testing for Medical Mobile App
Conducted series of formative usability tests culminating in summative usability test to aid development of user interface for each software release of a mobile app used daily by patients of a specific disease. Testing was done in several United States cities and in selected European countries. Procedures and reporting complied with FDA guidelines.
